Default Mass Storage Access Denied Vista Ultimate

Hi everyone

I know this question has been asked before, but I have failed to find a
solution. I would be very grateful to anyone who'd help me solve this! I have
updated my system with all possible updates from Microsoft and I have also
tried uninstalling my devices and have vista re-install them. Everything
works fine in safe mode!

The problem is as follows:

All of a sudden Vista decided that no Mass Storage Drives, like my
DVD-player AND any external USB hard drives will appear with a red circle in
Explorer. When I try to expand the drives, I get absolutely no files. When I
press "properties" and the "security tab", I am told "You don not have
permission to view or edit this object's permission settings". Nor am I
allowed to "change ownership." This is very very annoying as I have to boot
into XP to be allowed to view my files.

For the record: I do have full administrator rights. I have also tried a
solution some people have suggested earlier which is to go to the "computer
folder" under "Local Security Policy", but this does not exist.

Please, anyone with a slight idea of what might be the cause, can you please
come forward and reveal yourselves!

Cheers,

Morten
