Default Error message when trying to open Firefox etc

For the last couple of days I have not been able to load Firefox - I get a
dialog box saying:

Error
The program must close to allow previous installation attempt to complete.
Please restart.

I get the same message on another program - Nitro PDF. In this case the
program loads but when I click on some of the buttons (not all) on the
ribbon I get the above message.

Restarting the computer makes no difference.

Is there a way to correct this?

Denis

Firefox 2.0.0.8 is now available try downloading it and the install over
your existing installation. Try reinstalling Nitro PDF too and see if that
corrects the problem.

For what it is worth I was running Firefox with Tor and I had
multiple problems binding to the Tor Proxy's. Sometimes it would work,
but most times it would not. I have deleted Firefox, Tor and am
sticking with EI7 that came with my computer. When posting to Usenet I
simply use a web proxy and run multiple tabs so I can work. I would
suggest sticking with EI7 and not using Firefox. I see no advantage in
using it. I had to defrag Vista but it seems to work OK without
Firefox.
