microphone

Hi, I am running Vista and I am having trouble hooking up my microphone. I
can't get any sound.I want to do some recording vocally but I can't. I tried
going into the Start /accesories/and I have no sound recorder listed. But yet
I know that it is working.
Please help!!

have you tryed a search in the start menu for sound recorder, it should be
there, but don't do manual search let vista search it
