After about amonth of use I suddenly was asked to verify username and pass
word. When I do so I get an authorization failure
----Account:'mail.speednet.com',Server:'mail.speednet.com',Protocol:Pop3,server
response: '-authorization falied",port110,secure[ssl]no, server
error;0x800ccc90 error number0x800ccc92
Also get :Account: 'mail.speednet.com', server:"mail.speednet.com',
protocolop3, server response: '-ERR syntax error', Port 110,secure[SSL]:NO,
Server error0x800ccc90,error number0x800ccc91
I have tried cheking/rentering my email account info thru winmail account
properties and have tried other suggestions I have read from oters with same
problem. NOTHING works. I cant send or recieve email or log on to email
PLEASE HELP Im going nuts----I have vista home premium and Norton internet

Default Re: Winmail problem

I purchased my Dell computer with Vista Home Premium in late July. Up until
2 weeks ago I could not use Windows mail and had numerous other problems.
To make a long story short, I had to get rid of spy sweeper. Then my NIS
ran out and I renewed it with Norton 2008. What a big mistake. I now have
NIS 2007, got a refund on NIS 2008, and uninstalled spysweeper, had my
computer reformatted (lost everything), but it's working better than ever.
Spysweeper and Norton are incompatable in many applications. Or should I
say compete against each other. Anyway in trying to solve my problems, I
created a big mess on here.
I would just use NIS 2007 and uninstall Spysweeper. I feel there is so much
security that came with the puter and security with NIS that I don't need
the spysweeper. Wish I had known that when I purchased my computer. I could
have eliminated one big headache.

Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Third party anti-spyware programs can cause incompatibility.
It is also redundant and unnecessary since Vista comes with
Windows Defender anti-spyware.

Have you verified with speednet that you have the right server name, port
number and security settings?

Email was working fine---then all of a sudden all this started. I got out my
original configuration info from speednet and double checked so I think
its right

Norton may well have corrupted that account while it was still installed.
Delete the speednet.com account, restart Windows Mail, then re-create
that speednet.com account.

Also, make sure Avast is not scanning emails.
