Hello everyone,
I just installed Win XP-embeded SP1 and I am trying to get the Component Database Manager to connect to the MSDE server. I can't get it to work. Is there any trick here? Anyone else have a problem with this? Thanks, Derek |

You can clear the Application error log and see the errors CMI throws when the DBM error comes up. Also, you can't connect to MSDE over the network - it has to be on the same machine as the tools. It's one of the limitations of MSDE. -- --Jon, MS This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |

Thanks Jon,
I was trying to put the DB on a 2nd machine and save space on my development box. It seemed like you could do that with embedded xp tools, but you cleared that up for me. I guess if I had a full ms-sql server install I could do that. I didn't see this limitation of MSDE spelled out anywhere. Maybe its in the fine print. Thanks again for clearing up the issue. It all works as advertised when you put everything on one system.
