MS:
When I perform right-click then Properties on the file \Windows\System32\command.com, I get a dialog complaining about a missing inf file apps.inf. This file is in the XPe SP1 repository, but not owned by any component atleast that I could tell. I can manually copy this file to \Windows\inf and the dialog no longer appears. Should this be part of the "DOS Windows on Windows Support" component? .... Doug |

Orphaned files are being addressed in a rollup qfe this summer. Thanks for
your patience, in the meantime, you can manually add the file. Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll check on a bug for apps.inf. -- Andy This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ===================================================== "Doug Hoeffel" <doug.hoeffelNO@SPAMcamtronics.com> wrote in message news:uPkSdX%23ODHA.2316@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > MS: > > When I perform right-click then Properties on the file > \Windows\System32\command.com, I get a dialog complaining about a missing > inf file apps.inf. Also forgot to mention that apps.inf was relnoted for SP1:
================ "Creating desktop shortcuts to MS-DOS programs is not supported. To resolve this issue, add Apps.inf, which is located in the repository to the Windows/inf folder, to your image. This will allow you to create shortcuts to MS-DOS programs. Shortcuts to MS-DOS programs will then have a generic icon instead of the MS-DOS icon." ================ Andy -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ========================================================== "Doug Hoeffel" <doug.hoeffelNO@SPAMcamtronics.com> wrote in message news:uwb$f6#ODHA.1608@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > Thanks for the update!! > > "Andy Allred [MS]" <andyall@onlin.emicrosoft.com> wrote in message > news:ew18eo#ODHA.2460@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > > Orphaned files are being addressed in a rollup qfe this summer. That's what I get for not checking the release notes. Actually, I wasn't
trying to create a DOS shortcut on my desktop. I was having trouble related to KB article 314452 and it mentioned to check the file command.com. ....Doug "Andy Allred [MS]" <andyall@online.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:u5DaXj$ODHA.1748@TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl... > Also forgot to mention that apps.inf was relnoted for SP1: > > ================ > "Creating desktop shortcuts to MS-DOS programs is not supported.
