I've been experiencing annoying IE 7 crashes and they always happen within
seconds of downloading certain pages. I say "certain" since the crashes are random but there are particular pages I absolutely cannot download due to crashing. I've tried reseting IE, using 32 and 64 bit versions and using the no add-ons option without success. Here are the two errors I see once a page has crashed: Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: iexplore.exe Application Version: 7.0.6000.16512 Application Timestamp: 46807103 Fault Module Name: StackHash_5255 Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386 Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bdf8 Exception Code: c0000374 Exception Offset: 000aa0fb OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 5255 Additional Information 2: a75fd876183f6f3219cdd8086d3ff68b Additional Information 3: 1290 Additional Information 4: 2f859cfcd8e695e2fa215d58a58dee19 Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: 500417053 The fault module is either stackhash_5255 or stackhash_86fb: Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: iexplore.exe Application Version: 7.0.6000.16512 Application Timestamp: 468076aa Fault Module Name: StackHash_86fb Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386 Fault Module Timestamp: 4549d372 Exception Code: c0000374 Exception Offset: 00000000000c87b7 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 86fb Additional Information 2: ce0b45749857407a119b2d97157ffcda Additional Information 3: 15ea Additional Information 4: 5cd266e99ed47a35fa336ef9850fdaf5 Extra information about the problem Bucket ID: 567342 While viewing application error reports using event viewer I noticed a long list of errors that were logged the same time I experienced the crashes with IE but where the fault module name would be listed there is a file named "ntdll.dll": iexplore.exe 7.0.6000.16512 468076aa ntdll.dll 6.0.6000.16386 4549d372 c0000374 00000000000c87b7 e48 01c8051ce132328b All the IE errors in event viewer (63 in five days) display ntdll.dll in this manner. I yahoo'd this file and found an interesting link to microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/261317 I read the info at the site but vista isn't listed in the "applies to" section. I do have a core2 duo so I'm thinking a fix for ntdll.dll might apply to me. Does anyone have suggestions or a solution? |

This is a crash in nvappfilter.dll , isn't it? Is that DLL on your system? What does it do? -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. That looks like you have nvappfilter.dll on your system. Who made that file, and why is it on your system? If you upgrade or uninstall that, does the system then work properly? -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
