win xp / fp2003 / www.habcraft.co.uk / newbie
I have impleeted previous advice and created a seprate folder within my web architecture to keep pages I do not want to appear when a visitor executes a search on my search page. This works fine, however... when I go to view the page the pictures that I had on that page do not appear, somehow the connection to the images has broken as a result of me moving the page to a new folder. How can I resolve this? Thanks for taking a look at my question. Dave |

Apart from the navigation buttons there are no images on the search page
- or did you mean some other page is missing images? If so, which one? -- Ron Symonds - Microsoft MVP (FrontPage) Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp FrontPage Support: http://www.frontpagemvps.com/ "threademporium" <threademporium@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CBDCB2FA-DFF6-4D1C-B59F-EC4E8F013B50@microsoft.com: > win xp / fp2003 / www.habcraft.co.uk / newbie > > I have impleeted previous advice and created a seprate folder within my web > architecture to keep pages I do not want to appear when a visitor executes a > search on my search page. I am not communicating very well - the search page is not the page I am
referring to - I am referring to certain pages I have now hidden in a folder which has an underscore_ starting the folder name - the pages placed in this folder will not show up when a visitor carries out a site search using my search page - having successfully hidden the pages from the search I find that when I choose to view the page any images I had placed on it are no longer visible - the images are still resident in the web sites image folder but somehow have become disconnected from the page I have moved into the folder I have created starting with an underscore_ Further information - the pages I wanted to hide are those that are viewed through an inline frame - if the visitor somehow executes a search which lists one of the pages which should only be viewed via an inline frame and clicks on it in the search results he will get to view a page on their screen which does not make any sense to them - they cannot navigate away from it - these pages are only useful when viewed through an inline frame on a page. check out this url which illustrates my issue , the inline frame on this page allows me to view a page - I don't want the visitor to be able pull up the page behind the inline frame in any search result - I only want the the page with the inline frame resident on it to be found in a search. http://www.habcraft.co.uk/thread_sew_all_gutermann.htm "Ronx" wrote: > Apart from the navigation buttons there are no images on the search page > - or did you mean some other page is missing images? How did you move the page? If you open the web in FrontPAge and drag
the page into the folder, all links to and from the page will be updated, except those links made through Javascript or other scripting language. If on the pages with missing images, the image path is wrong, then use the broken hyperlinks report to correct the links. It may be possible to repair the links in bulk using search and replace: Search for - wrong path, replace with: correct path. Actually seeing a broken page will help give an accurate answer. -- Ron Symonds - Microsoft MVP (FrontPage) Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp FrontPage Support: http://www.frontpagemvps.com/ "threademporium" <threademporium@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:363B75BC-7ECC-44BE-B1B0-7447A9BFF373@microsoft.com: > I am not communicating very well - the search page is not the page I am > referring to - I am referring to certain pages I have now hidden in a folder > which has an underscore_ starting the folder name - the pages placed in this > folder will not show up when a visitor carries out a site search using my > search page - having successfully hidden the pages from the search I find > that when I choose to view the page any images I had placed on it are no > longer visible - the images are still resident in the web sites image folder > but somehow have become disconnected from the page I have moved into the > folder I have created starting with an underscore_ > Further information - the pages I wanted to hide are those that are viewed > through an inline frame - if the visitor somehow executes a search which > lists one of the pages which should only be viewed via an inline frame and > clicks on it in the search results he will get to view a page on their screen > which does not make any sense to them - they cannot navigate away from it - > these pages are only useful when viewed through an inline frame on a page. > check out this url which illustrates my issue , the inline frame on this > page allows me to view a page - I don't want the visitor to be able pull up > the page behind the inline frame in any search result - I only want the the > page with the inline frame resident on it to be found in a search. > http://www.habcraft.co.uk/thread_sew_all_gutermann.htm > > "Ronx" wrote: > > > Apart from the navigation buttons there are no images on the search page > > - or did you mean some other page is missing images? I used the cut and paste commands to re-locate the page - I will try the
'drag' procedure. Thanks for your advice "Ronx" wrote: > How did you move the page? OK that worked - I did one page to test it out. However I had a problem
executing the drag and drop command - when the distance between the destination folder and the page I need to move is such that only one can be seen on the screen the drag and drop doesn't happen - I expected the page to scroll down to reveal the folder when I dragged the page to the top of the screen. I had to rename the page with an 'a' at the beginning to place it at the top of the list of pages and therefore visible on the screen at the same time as the folder I need to move it into. Any thoughts on what I am doing incorrectly? Thanks for taking a look at my question. Dave "Ronx" wrote: > How did you move the page? Switch to folder view, and have the folder list open on the left. Both
these panes have independent vertical scroll bars, so navigation within either pane is simple. In the folder tree on the left, click on the folder containing the original pages, so the folder opens on the right. In the folder tree, navigate to the destination folder - if necessary expand/close branches using the + and - icons beside the folders - do not open any folders by clicking them. Drag from the open folder (on the right) to the folder in the tree (on the left). You can drag multiple files by highlighting each file with ctrl-click and/or shift-click, then dragging the selection. Using cut and paste will always break hyperlinks, unless the folders (from and to) involved are on the same level AND the links are all relative. -- Ron Symonds - Microsoft MVP (FrontPage) Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread. http://www.rxs-enterprises.org/fp FrontPage Support: http://www.frontpagemvps.com/ "threademporium" <threademporium@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C1EC0B16-F103-4867-AADE-BE3F5D706501@microsoft.com: > OK that worked - I did one page to test it out.
