Default Inserting a "Back" button

Hi all

I have a "back" button on each page of my site, and for most of these a
static link is sufficient. However, there are a few instances where the user
could have come from any one of a number of pages.

Can I put in a back button that will actually return the user to the last
page they were at?

Thanks for your time.
