Don't put BMPs on the web.
First, they're absolutely huge when compared to other formats in use. Second, they're a windows format so they're not supported on non-MS platforms necessarily You need to convert the image into a JPG or Gif first (you could also do PNG but older browsers don't support this format well). -- Hope this helps, Mark Fitzpatrick Microsoft MVP - FrontPage "Fignal" <Fignal@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1CD13C63-97EA-454E-9615-BDB50EE33DFC@microsoft.com... >I want to create a webpage that has a series of bmp images on it, however > when i drag the image into frontpage all i get is a square with a red x in > it. > What am i doin wrong? |

You need to open the bmp image files in an image editor and save them as

Ok, so i tried opening the image using paint, then i save as... and i used
GIF as a format, but it still gives me a red x. Is this something wrong with me or my computer? If you left the file name the same, when you re-import it make sure you let
it overwrite the existing file already in FP. -- Rob Giordano Microsoft MVP - FrontPage "Fignal" <Fignal@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2F98F7DA-A419-449A-A5AE-B5B519544F5E@microsoft.com... | Ok, so i tried opening the image using paint, then i save as... and i used | GIF as a format, but it still gives me a red x. | Is this something wrong with me or my computer? | | "Mark Fitzpatrick" wrote: | | > Don't put BMPs on the web. | > | > First, they're absolutely huge when compared to other formats in use. | > Second, they're a windows format so they're not supported on non-MS | > platforms necessarily | > You need to convert the image into a JPG or Gif first (you could also do PNG | > but older browsers don't support this format well). | > | > | > -- | > Hope this helps, | > Mark Fitzpatrick | > Microsoft MVP - FrontPage | > | > "Fignal" <Fignal@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message | > news:1CD13C63-97EA-454E-9615-BDB50EE33DFC@microsoft.com... | > >I want to create a webpage that has a series of bmp images on it, however | > > when i drag the image into frontpage all i get is a square with a red x in | > > it. | > > What am i doin wrong? | > | > | > |

I do that! i save the new picture in a new file folder, then when it comes time to put it on site it does not work! maby i need to regulate something inside frontpage to make it see pictures that normally it can't? or maby i am trying to put in pictures that are too big or have too many colors or something like that! If you've put it into a new folder make sure you use that image, iow remove
the original image from your design and use the new one from the new folder. If your original bmp had a lot of colors and you saved it as a gif it might look crappy but it should still work. Post the url to the page with the image problem so we can see it (or not see it). If you've converted to a .jpg it must be a RGB jpg and not CMYK. -- Rob Giordano Microsoft MVP - FrontPage "Fignal" <Fignal@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8D6F0D4D-785F-4D24-8B40-E1FF0E86B7A7@microsoft.com... | | I do that! i save the new picture in a new file folder, then when it comes | time to put it on site it does not work! | maby i need to regulate something inside frontpage to make it see pictures | that normally it can't? or maby i am trying to put in pictures that are too | big or have too many colors or something like that! | "Rob Giordano (Crash)" wrote: | | > If you left the file name the same, when you re-import it make sure you let | > it overwrite the existing file already in FP. | > | > | > | > -- | > | > Rob Giordano | > Microsoft MVP - FrontPage | > | > | > | > | > | > "Fignal" <Fignal@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message | > news:2F98F7DA-A419-449A-A5AE-B5B519544F5E@microsoft.com... | > | Ok, so i tried opening the image using paint, then i save as... and i used | > | GIF as a format, but it still gives me a red x. | > | Is this something wrong with me or my computer? | > | | > | "Mark Fitzpatrick" wrote: | > | | > | > Don't put BMPs on the web. | > | > | > | > First, they're absolutely huge when compared to other formats in use. | > | > Second, they're a windows format so they're not supported on non-MS | > | > platforms necessarily | > | > You need to convert the image into a JPG or Gif first (you could also do | > PNG | > | > but older browsers don't support this format well). | > | > | > | > | > | > -- | > | > Hope this helps, | > | > Mark Fitzpatrick | > | > Microsoft MVP - FrontPage | > | > | > | > "Fignal" <Fignal@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message | > | > news:1CD13C63-97EA-454E-9615-BDB50EE33DFC@microsoft.com... | > | > >I want to create a webpage that has a series of bmp images on it, | > however | > | > > when i drag the image into frontpage all i get is a square with a red | > x in | > | > > it. | > | > > What am i doin wrong? | > | > | > | > | > | > | > | > | > |

Wait! what do you mean by RGB jpg or CMYK?
when i choose to save picture as.... and i pick jpg it does not tell me what kind of jpg to save it as. I use paint to save the picture, do you think i shuld save with a different program? is there some way of changing type of jpg? cmyk is for print and if a jpg is saved in cmyk colorspace it will not work
on the web. sorry, i can't, it is copywrited and i agreed not to publish it on the net.
now for my question, if paint is not capable of saving in a way that will show up in frontpage, as i have tried, then i am obviously using the wrong program. what program do you think i shuld use to save the picture?
