I recently built a computer & when loading drivers it froze up, so I had to
force it to quit. Now when I try to start it, the monitor light turns green for a sec & then turns yellow. No BIOS messages, nothing, so I can't even try to boot off of the CD. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

First thing to check is the power supply. Try a new one. If it still doesn't
boot, remove all of the cards and drives (except video if there is no onboard). Try again. If still not booting, remove the RAM and turn it on. If it doesn't just do one, long continuous beep, then you have a dead motherboard, maybe processor. "Mike" <mikey117@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:SFkvf.48928$tO4.35483@tornado.texas.rr.com... If everything is new on the PC, I would suspect that something was faulty or was not fixed in properly. Try the easiest and cheapest solutions first - Try removing and re-inserting the graphics card. Try the same with the RAM and the processor as it could be a duff connection. Make sure all connections are good. When you power on, do the fans spin up? Does the hard disk spin? When you turn on the switch on the back of the power supply, does the power supply fan flicker and do any LEDs light up on the motherboard? Do you get a series of beeps when you power on? These beeps tell you where the problem is - check the manual or post motherboard model numbers and details here. |

What could have happened that could have caused the freeze up when loading drivers & now not allowing it to boot? |

I answered that in my first reply - I would suspect that something was faulty or was not fixed in properly (but worked to start with). Try the easiest and cheapest solutions first - Try removing and re-inserting the graphics card. Try the same with the RAM and the processor as it could be a duff connection. Basically, as its all new, make sure everything is connected properly. Follow my second paragraph above to help narrow down the problem and rule out power problems, then tell us what happens regarding beeps etc as in my third paragraph. Do you have access to another PC where you could try the components out one at a time to identify which has failed? Try the RAM in another PC. Try the hard disks in another PC. As the computer froze while you were using it I would suspect power, CPU or memory trouble. |
