I have just started using Vista primarily for Media Centre after being a long
time user of XP MCE 2005. I have set the PC up so that the system goes to standby after 20 minutes of idle time or pressing the power button on remote or the PC case. This seems to work in the main. However, when the system resumes (by pressing the power button on remote or PC case) several devices are missing, most notably the internal floppy disk drive. The event log shows several events with descriptions of the form "The device 'Floppy disk drive' (FDC\GENERIC_FLOPPY_DRIVE\5&2d6f9a86&0&0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal." A reboot is the only way I have found to make these devices available again so obviously if anyone has a solution to this it would make life easier. The event descriptions for the other devices that disappear are: 'Printer Port Logical Interface' (LPTENUM\MicrosoftRawPort\5&767877b&0&LPT1) 'Communications Port (COM1)' (ACPI\PNP0501\1) 'ECP Printer Port (LPT1)' (ACPI\PNP0401\4&79e57b8&0) 'Standard floppy disk controller' (ACPI\PNP0700\4&79e57b8&0) 'System CMOS/real time clock' (ACPI\PNP0B00\4&79e57b8&0) 'PCI standard ISA bridge' (PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0261&SUBSYS_81C01043&REV_A2\3&267a616a&0&50) I'm using an ASUS K8N-VM motherboard. |
