large icons won't stay put in vista

I have tried everything to get icons to stay where I put them on the desktop.
No luck. Using align to grid didn't help either. Any suggestions?

2G RAM
Pentium 4, 3mhz

I have the same problem with Vista Enterprise. HP gave me this link:

.. It's not a complete fix but it helped some. What it does is lets you save
your desktop so you can in essence restore it. But it doesn't prevent your
icons from getting moved, which means you have to use the Keeper to restore
your icons to their locations everytime it gets moved. Another problem with
this is that it saves the documents as is, so the changes you've made to the
documents won't be there since it puts back the last copy you saved to the
Keeper. What I do is keep my documents on my memory card and only have
programs on my desktop. It's a real pain..I hope Microsoft fixes this real
soon and sends us free updates!
