TV Monitor does not show pictures

I am running movie maker on a Dell Inspiron laptop computer. In the project
file, all images are jpg files which show perfectly on the laptop display.
When I connect the laptop to a Panasonic HDTV as a 2nd monitor, however, the
TV monitor shows every part of Movie Maker, including the timeline, but does
not show the images (the small monitor is blank).

Any suggestions?

Two things to try,
Reduce the hardware acceleration setting to zero for the laptop monitor.
Make the tv the primary monitor.
Most graphics cards can only output overlay to one monitor at a time.
