Could be incompatible issue. Can they ping each other? Or this link may help,
Vista compatible issuesSome switch may not compatible with Vista – Solutions: upgrade the firmware, disable the IPv6, re-configure the speed, and setup TCP/IP manually. ... www.chicagotech.net/vista/vistacompatible.htm Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "dean" <dean@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E098BCA7-741B-4C23-A1F7-9A049FBE02CB@microsoft.com... Try the standard Microsoft reference first. <http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/evaluate/vista_fp.mspx> http://www.microsoft.com/technet/ne...e/vista_fp.mspx Then look at issues that involve Vista and XP together. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/12/windows-xp-and-vista-on-lan-together.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/...n-together.html And look at logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation", from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/...l#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP 2005-2007 [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. that is a switch and not a router. you need a router to supply DHCP
addresses to the computers on your network. what is the switch connected to? a broadband modem? which modem?
