Have got Home Premium installed with 2 network cards, Internet (public) and
Local (private) Browsing and network completely fine on my Internet connection, I stream video and everything just fine. On my Local Connection, everything used to work fine when I first installed it but now I struggle with everything (possibly after some update?), my PC sitting next to it, sometimes works sometimes doesn't, very intermittent, web browsing the same, same with streaming, what figures? Even tried upgrading the memory, no luck, rembooting makes no difference. Any answers to this? I've tried the two vista updates for performance and reliability, no change, damn -- Rgds Darkside http://thegamedevspace.spaces.msn.com/ |

Multihomed computer may have a name resolution or computer browse issue if the settings incorrect. Posting the result of ipconfig /all here may help. These links may help,

CHecked through those links, thanks.
But The problem is intermittent, If I persist I will even tually get to the internet or the local PC but it is problematic. For instance, When trying to get to Windows Update, it usually takes several attempts to get the site working and then only half the updates can be downloaded as the connection fails. The same is for streaming, my client can broswe the directories fine but as soon as I try to keep a continuous connection for streaming, it fails. So it's as if the 2nd network card is now unable to maintain a conection for either browsing or streaming. I must point out that when I first installed Vista, this wasn't a problem and everything worked fine in the current configuration. One day it just decided to stop working (maybee after an update) Any other ideas? -- Rgds Darkside http://thegamedevspace.spaces.msn.com/ "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: > Multihomed computer may have a name resolution or computer browse issue if the settings incorrect. WIll check, but i dont think so, Had to add some memory to solve another
issue, so I spent a fair amount of time in there. No network related errors, or warnings in any of the logs, or even in the firewall logs. At one point I even added exception rules to the firewall and disabled it a few times, no change. In a nother post I also raised a question on a related issue where I can not connect to my XBOX360, but that's on all connections -- Rgds Darkside http://thegamedevspace.spaces.msn.com/ "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: > Any errors in the event viewer? > > Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE > Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net > How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com > "Darkside (Simon Jackson)" <DarksideSimonJackson@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5BB0997D-DE29-43CF-9627-608884EC9412@microsoft.com... > CHecked through those links, thanks. > But > The problem is intermittent, If I persist I will even tually get to the > internet or the local PC but it is problematic. > > For instance, When trying to get to Windows Update, it usually takes several > attempts to get the site working and then only half the updates can be > downloaded as the connection fails. > The same is for streaming, my client can broswe the directories fine but as > soon as I try to keep a continuous connection for streaming, it fails. > > So it's as if the 2nd network card is now unable to maintain a conection for > either browsing or streaming. > > I must point out that when I first installed Vista, this wasn't a problem > and everything worked fine in the current configuration. Checked, No errors or warnings found now (since I upgraded the memory)
Can still see the XBOX360 in my network browsing and nothing else. When I borrowed my friends XBOX I was able to use XNA to deploy a game to the box, have just tried to do it to my new box and nothing, wont connect. Starting to downer if it's the XBOX or something on it. Any ideas? -- Rgds Darkside http://thegamedevspace.spaces.msn.com/ "Darkside (Simon Jackson)" wrote: > WIll check, but i dont think so, Had to add some memory to solve another > issue, so I spent a fair amount of time in there. > > No network related errors, or warnings in any of the logs, or even in the > firewall logs. > > At one point I even added exception rules to the firewall and disabled it a > few times, no change. > In a nother post I also raised a question on a related issue where I can not > connect to my XBOX360, but that's on all connections > -- > Rgds > Darkside > http://thegamedevspace.spaces.msn.com/ > > > "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: > > > Any errors in the event viewer? > > > > Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE > > Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net > > How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com > > "Darkside (Simon Jackson)" <DarksideSimonJackson@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5BB0997D-DE29-43CF-9627-608884EC9412@microsoft.com... > > CHecked through those links, thanks. > > But > > The problem is intermittent, If I persist I will even tually get to the > > internet or the local PC but it is problematic. > > > > For instance, When trying to get to Windows Update, it usually takes several > > attempts to get the site working and then only half the updates can be > > downloaded as the connection fails. > > The same is for streaming, my client can broswe the directories fine but as > > soon as I try to keep a continuous connection for streaming, it fails. > > > > So it's as if the 2nd network card is now unable to maintain a conection for > > either browsing or streaming. > > > > I must point out that when I first installed Vista, this wasn't a problem > > and everything worked fine in the current configuration.
