Vista Home Premium connecting to XP SP2

I have 4 computers, one just purchased with Vista Home Premium. My other 3
can all talk to each other and to all of my husbands computers (wired
network, workgroup). But Vista cannot get to one of my XP computers. I can go
from the XP to Vista but when I try the reverse it asks for a username and
password. I put in what I use to sign on XP but it comes back adding the
Vista's computer name (Storm\Barbara A Brown) in the space and telling me I
have an invalid username/password. Any suggestions? Both computers have the
same username and password. Although one computer is named Storm and the
other Venus (all my computers have different names). Just as a side note,
Vista(Storm) CAN get to all my other computers, even one that has a different
password, and it never asks for a login with these other computers. I'm
really at a loss.

Is the problem computer running XP Home, or XP Pro? Is it running Simple, or
Advanced, File Sharing? Is it using Guest, or non-Guest, authentication? If
non-Guest, is the account activated properly?

It's XP Pro. I know I turned on "Simple" after reading some other message but
that didn't help. I have each drive letter set to share all functions. I'm
not sure what you mean by advanced. Where would I find that? How do I tell
what authentication it is using? I do have Guest for each computer turned on.
Can you tell me how it should be set up? Is it a problem with the XP or the
Vista machine?

I seem to think it's the Vista computer since I didn't have a problem with
any other operating system until now. I have 2000, ME, XP Pro, XP Home, NT
all working ok together.

I'll also read over your site this weekend while I'm at that computer. I'm
offsite now. I still have to test my laptop (XP Home) going to Vista, but I
know Vista goes to the laptop ok without coming up with that login box.

Simple File Sharing (Guest only) is the opposite of Advanced File sharing (Guest
/ non-Guest). If you're running SFS, then Guest MUST be activated for network
access. Make both computers the same, for best results.
