Hi, I have the same problem but was hesitant to use the registry remedy,
because I am such a novice at computers and hate to mess things up even more.I have Vista home premium, so it worked for you and everything else is ok too? Because how do you undu this in case it doesn't work? my computer is not letting me 'restore' I tried that already, hoping to fix the driver problem;thanks for helping,Eleonore "marko" wrote: > > Wanted to say thankyou.. > > the registry fix seems to have worked. > > > -- > marko > |

Is this real common because I just had this happen to me. My computer
(Vista) stoped recognizing all of my dvd drives and also stoped recognizing my external harddrive. I'm hoping this works. VERY common.
For CD\DVD problems: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb/929461/en-us For USB problems: This solution has worked for some people with problematic USB devices: Locate the file INFCACHE.1 in C:\Windows\inf Right click on the INFCACHE.1 file, select Properties >Security > Edit, and give your account full control. Delete INFCACHE.1, or rename it to INFCACHE.1.BAK or temporarily move to your desktop. REBOOT -- I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS!
