Default Preview Monitor

Hi all,

Thank's all for V interesting tips.

Just recovering from computer crash!!

I have imported clips into MM OK. When I click clips to play, the majority
will not play in Preview. Some do. The majority of clips stick..
After about 12-15secs I get audio..Also the clip I clip does not show in
monitor..AN Other does (but not selected clip).

Clips will play in Timeline.

I have been trying to sort this out for a long time.

1) Consulted Wojo's Web and followed advice..no joy (lots of woderfull info
here).
2) Checked "Bad Movie Maker Installation",thanks to Wojo, this is OK.
3) Downloaded & Run suggested XP Codec Pack 2.0.1

Still unable to get the clips to budge...All was well until new drive
inserted.

Could someone please advise

Many thanks,

--
Darcy

Hi Graham, Thank you very much for your reply.I have been trying to sort this
for ages

The files were imported straight to mm (My Videos),from camcorder. Type of
file:Wndows Media Audio/Video file. To try 7 fathom this I borrowed a laptop,
imported files to laptop from my computer, My Video file, and they seem to
work OK.
On this basis I can only assume, from what I have read in group mails, that it
must be something to do with MM + or Codecs on my desktop.

Will try the web address you kindly provided..............Thanks

If they work fine in another pc, I suspect it could be something software
related like codecs or even hardware if something is failing.

Why did you have to recover from a crash? What happened? What did you do to
recover?

Hi Graham,

I have had a DELL computer for two years..constant problems with it.
Eventually (2 years), DELL decided it was a dodgy C:\drive..
Microsoft does not allow backing up to disc & my X Drive would not take
files (Fat 32). I therefor lost everything when technician renewed drive.
Technician supplied and reloaded Xp 2000. Pack 2.1

I have tried downloading & installing the Codec packs suggested to other
members in the group. No joy here.

Thanks for your help

Hi Graham...Many thanks for your reply, which I will save to my files.

I am very, very pleased to tell you that my 3 month problem has now been
resolved .. It was due to Microsoft downloading Media Player Update
11......Which I have now removed and MM works OK.

Purely by chance. I was working on movies in MM with my laptop when
Microsoft downloaded the above update. Computer went off and restarted..tried
to carry on with my work but MM would not work properly. Removed Download now
all appears oK.

Thanks for your help
