Default Mouse will not work

My mouse, or actually mice, will not work with my Windows
XP system. I have trieda a PS/2, USB/ and serial mouse
and none of them will work with my XP system. I know the
mice are in good working order because they work on other
machines. I tried downloading and installing service pack
1 and that didn't help, I tried going through the IRQs to
maker sure that there were no conflicts, and there aren't
any. I have started disabling superfluous components and
still nothing will get my mice to work in Windows. The
mice work fine in BIOS but the second Windows boots they
die. Someone help!!!!!

P.S. Just in case someone was going to suggest it, I have
already tried going into Safe Mode and pulling drivers
including the one's I installed for the mice.

Thats probably the mistake,if no software or drivers are
installed(by user),windows update would probably offered
them to you.If the drivers or software are installed
windows update doesnt always offer them, try uninstalling
software,drivers,then try #1 the mouse,#2 try update.
