Default Multiple e-mails to same contact

I notice that each time I send an e-mail to an existing contact, the e-mail
is going twice. The address of the person appears as John Doe
<john.doe@...>. Is there a way to stop the message being sent more than once
to the same contact?

Go to Tools>accounts and ensure that you only have one instance of your mail
account set up, if so remove the extra one.

If what Mac has posted is correct then your issue is solved. If you only have 1 account set up then you might also want to disable your Anti Virus integration (email scanning)
