I am running Vista business on a laptop with a Magicolor 2300DL set as
a TCP/IP printer which seems to remain as a local printer. Whn I send a print job to the 2300, it takes a longer time for the job to print, whereas in XP it printed quite rapidly. I tried stoppingand restarting the print server, completing deleting the printer and driver, and playing with the print managment program which is now on my Quick Launch. When the job prints, it is OK, but it just takes a long time to print... Richard |

It prints to a "local" TCP/IP port. It's not a "shared printer" attached to another machine. You print directly to the printer, and not to the "Print Queue" of the shared printer machine. As for your speed issue, I have no idea. I have an old HP Laser Jet 4 Plus here that works at the same speed in Vista, XP and OS X. It's an IP printer that is a "local" printer to all Windows machines. Mike |
