java applets will not work

The only way I can get java applets in IE7 to work is if I turn UAC off. This
has been occuring since yesterday. I uninstalled java and reinstalled x2 the
latest version but the behavior still occurs. Can someone tell me what's
going on? I have Vista Home Premium. Thanks for anyone's help.
