Default Problem deleting to recycle bin-Help!

When I try to send items to recycle bin for instance favorites-it gets hung
up with the box saying deleting and I have to control alt delete to end
program all the time-I have vista prem. hp computer. The items will end up
in trash can when you go back to look but,the box saying deleting doesn't go
away.

There's probably another process that is hogging cpu. Fire up task manager,
ctrl-shift-esc, and have a look at the cpu column (addable via View >
Select Columns)

I have a similar problem with deleting/recycle bin with my new Vista Basic -
when I try to delete a file the dialogue box asks if I want to permanently
delete the file. If I hit "yes" the file disappears completely from my
computer. If I hit "no" it doesn't delete at all. There appears to be no
"send to the recycle bin" option and when I check for deleted files by
clicking on the Recycle Bin icon on desktop, no files can be found. In this
way I have inadvertently lost files which I wished to send to the bin - but
not immediately delete completely. Can these be recovered? What's wrong
with the delete/bin option?

Hi jvista - I've actually solved my recycle bin problem - but I don't know
how! After a long on-line chat help session with Microsoft-HP it now seems
to operate in the usual way - that is, when you delete a file the pop-up
window offers the usual Recycle Bin query. I THINK that after going into
"properties" and changing the size of the bin (a new Vista-type thing - I've
not come across this option before) and making any of the other changes
suggested by the on-line chat consultant she should have told me to restart
the computer. She didn't and thus her advice didn't seem to help. But when
I booted up this morning, the whole thing was working fine.
