Default sidebar

Hello

I find the Vista 'Sidebar' to be a pain in the bum as it occupies so much of
my desktop, but 2 of its 'gadgets' are quite useful.

I know I can detach gadgets from the sidebar, but if I then close the
sidebar all the gadgets disappear.

Can I close the sidebar but keep the most useful gadgets visible on my
desktop ?

Thanks (as always) for your help & advice)

K

Instead of exiting the sidebar from the system tray, after detaching
the gadgets and placing them on the desktop right click the sidebar
and select "Close sidebar"

Hello... you can.. yet this is not apparent!

Right click on the sidebar itself and select close...

it will go away from the desktop but the gadgets will still be there.. and
the icon in the tray will still be there

how about just selecting the option for NOT ON TOP.
so it hides under the other windows.
