Default FP2003 won't publish using FTP with new DSL modem firewall

Help! I cannot publish our website with our new Qwest DSL 2Wire 2700HG-D
modem. I have went through the steps to allow FTP server access on the
firewall settings for the modem, but it still gives me the error message --
"could not find a web server at myweb.com on port 21" My web host could not
help. They do not support FP extensions and claim to have little or no
knowledge of FP. Qwest helped me with the changes I made, but then said I
would have to contact my own "technician" when it still didn't work! I had
no problems uploading my site using FTP with the old dial-up internet access.

When you try and publish, after you choose FTP check the box to use Passive
FTP. If that is checked try un-checking it.

I've already tried it both ways. Checking the box was the only advice my web
hoster could give me. With the box unchecked, the error message that I get
is "425 unable to build data connection: connection timed out."

I have the same problem in a slightly different context and have tried the
same suggestions with no results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Silver Surfer,
I solved the problem on my own with some more research on the internet. I
found a thread where someone suggested using a 3rd party software Ipswitch WS
FTP which is a file transfer protocol software. That's all it does. I
downloaded a free trial from the internet, connected and located my website
(for some reason I had to use the numbers of the site and not the name) and
uploaded my changes, no problems! I also had to temporarily disable the
McAfee firewall (which I never used to have to disable), but not the Qwest
DSL firewall. Since then I have purchased the Ipswitch software and had no
more problems uploading. The $58.80 was worth it compared to the time I
wasted trying to get the FrontPage to upload.
