Default External Hard Drive

Hi,
I would really appreciate some help.
When I was looking at the Vista website I was prompted to to connect all
peripherals. As a result my Maxtor Hard Drive will no longer wrk on any
operating system/laptop/ pc!!
Can anyone tell me what a Code 10 defect is and how I can rectify it?

Many thans in anticipation!

Thom

baronstrangler,

Here is a Microsoft article explaining a lot of different error codes and
recommended resolutions, including for code 10:

Post back on results.

baronstrangler,

If that previous reference doesn't resolve your problem, try using google to
search on: code 10 vista, or words to that effect. There are various
conditions that can cause a code 10, and there is a lot of information on the
Internet about it.

If the external drive will not work on any PC (XP, Vista, laptop, desktop,
etc) then it's probably failed.
