Default shrink primary drive

My new laptop came with a 160 GB hard drive partitioned into C (OS, ~80 GB)
and D (DATA, ~80). I would like to shrink C to about 50 and expand D to
about 110. When I use Vista's management system, I cannot shrink C (probably
b/c of page files). The problem is, I don't know anything about page files
or snapshots. If I understand correctly, I am supposed to move the page
files and snapshots to my external drive, resize, and then move them back to
C? Any suggestions? Thanks!
