Hi all.
I have just added an extra 2GB ram to make total ram 4GB. Since the upgrade I am having a lot of graphical glitches and not just in the games. They are on the desktop. Best description I can give is as though the window has become totally corrupted, drag the window and it fixes it. Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA, Amd 5200+, 4GB DDRII-667, NVidia 6800GT 256MB, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. None of the issues were evident when I only has 2GB ram, I have run the Windows Memory Check overnight and it reported no problems. I have the latest Bios, V1.90, latest Nvidia drivers 158.24, and latest Creative drivers. I have disables the AM2 boost in the bios, still no difference. Any ideas? |

Bad or incompatiable new ram.... try the New Ram alone.... if OK try
switching the New and Old Ram Positions.... Paul,
From your motherboard manual: "Memory Hole Use this item to enable or disable memory hole. The Default value is [Disabled]." Go into the BIOS CMOS setup at boot and change this setting to "Enabled". See if this helps. If not, you prolly have mismatched RAM. Paul Clarke wrote: > Hi all. > > I have just added an extra 2GB ram to make total ram 4GB. Well the option in the bios for the memory hole is not there.
I have now updated the BIOS to version 2.00 dated 29/06/07 All the ram is now IDENTICAL, All Kingston. This seems to be more and more an Nvidia thing. I simply do not believe that I can't get x64 working with 4gb ram and an NVidia card. Moving on. I think this is not an Nvidia thing.
I removed one stick of ram. This meant I now had 3GB ram, but I still had the same problem. I have sent of a technical support request to ASROCK but I am not holding my breath. To get back to a working solution I have now reverted back to 2GB. It does seem as though there are issues with Vista x64 and 4GB due to the vast number of posts on the net. My next test will be to see If I get issues with XP x64 or Linux.
