Default e-mail account

I've just purchased a laptop with Vista basic, I am having REAL trouble with
my e-mails. Meaning, if I put my old laptop with windows XP prof. on, I
automatically get ALL of my e-mails, but nothing gets through to my new
machine, what do I do, please, before I go totally mad????!!!!
Also, I keep losing my wireless connection, it's on local and internet then
goes to local only, without my moving the laptop at all! What's going on
there then? Can anyone help? I more than likely wont get an e-mail on this
laptop so will pick it up on the other machine, do I have to uninstall
something on old laptop before my mail can reach me...?
HELP!!! Thanks.

You need to set up an email client first.
If you used Outlook Express on XP, it has been replaced with Windows Mail.
However, WM does not access webmail accounts, only POP & IMAP.

Or...
You can use the new Windows Live Mail beta.

In any case, you need to create an account, with your email server names and
your login name & password.

Sounds like your XP laptop grabs all the emails before your Vista laptop
has a chance to download them. You will have to go into Outlook
Express on your XP laptop and tell it to leave a copy of emails on the
server: Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Advanced.

As far as your wireless connectivity issue, that is beyond the scope
of this newsgroup. Try the newsgroup microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing
