I have created a wordpad document but I cannot save it anywhere. The first
place I tried was /user/Documents but it says 'You can't save in this location. Please choose another location'. I tried saving in the root directory, same message. I tried creating a new folder in Documents and saving to that. Still refuses to save. This is incredibly annoying. This program comes with Vista and yet it is unable to save the contents of a file even to my own documents. I tried OpenOffice and that came up with the same message. My Documents folder properties show it is 'read only'. I have tried unchecking this option but it keeps restoring it to read only. Can someone please tell me how to save a file under Windows Vista? |

I have since solved this problem and feel very stupid. I was trying to save
using a filename containing a colon. This is the first file I have tried to save so I assumed something was wrong with my install. I can't help feeling the error message was slightly misleading though. "User7684" wrote: > I have created a wordpad document but I cannot save it anywhere. thanks for posting back.
I agree, the message could have been more informative.
