I have enetered a link to another worksheet cell, say in cell C2: =Sheet2!A1.
The result in C2 indicates the formula (=A1) and not the answer of A1. Note that all the other cells in the worksheet has formulas and return the answers and the Tool/Options/View/Formulas tab is unticked |

The cell is probably formatted as text. delete the formula, format as general
