Default Removing Task Bar Icons by clock

How do you remove task bar icons from the task bar next to the clock and
still keep the programs in the start menus. Some programs take a while to
load at boot time, and also there are a lot of them that I don't really need
there.

Thanks in advance.

The method really depends on the individual program. Some you can simply
right-click on and choose to exit. But then they will be back again after a
reboot. Others, when you right-click on will have an option to tell it not
to run each time Windows starts.

A better thing to try would be to run "msconfig". There you can control what
applications start with Windows. But there are exceptions...I don't remember
which ones exactly but I have had programs automatically start that were not
represented in msconfig. Again, it depends on the application. Also note
that removing them from msconfig will not remove them from the start menu.
It doesn't uninstall the program, it just prevents it from starting
automatically.

No need to post so many times. Sometimes it can take a day or two to get an answer. Keep checking back.
