I clicked Publish site - it says it was successful - then i click 'view from
remote site' a new bowser opens titled - New Page 1 - the address comes up
right but the page is completly blank and when i sourse the HTML that is also
blank

What did I do wrong?

There are usually two "home pages" on the server. One will be index.htm and
the other will be index.htm
Open the site live in Internet Explorer the choose Edit with Microsoft
Office FrontPage. You will be prompted for the Username and Password. Delete
the inappropriate index page. Close Internet Explorer and Publish the site
again. When you look at it in the browser, you may need to click on Refresh
Page...

he meant: html & htm - depending on which one your host server requires..

the reason that happens is fp adjusts to what your server needs so sometimes
you end up with two index pages, one htm one html - but you can only have
one...the one that the server wants
