Default No DVD

I've just installed vista Ultimate on a new computer. Everything was a clean
install, so I booted off the dvdplayer. Now when Vista is done with updates,
the DVD is gone? Even in bios I cannot see it anymore. What to do? Vista
seems unable to find any driver. Are there some generic ones I could use?

Default RE: No DVD

By the way, this is not related to the error 39. In that case a driver is
installed, here it's not.

The first thing to do is to get the BIOS to recognize the drive. Until that
happens, you are wasting time trying to get Vista to find it.

If BIOS is not finding it, NO OS will find it.
Check the cables and jumpers. If it still doesn't show in BIOS, try a
different drive.
It may have just died.
Stranger things have happened.
