Well, I have my audio set up and working in 5.1 sound via the X-Fi mixer.
I see that windows has a update form my card, so I update. Restart machine and, the mixer is there but different, not as many options, go to select speakers in the dropdown list, nothing, blank. Only get sound out of 2 speakers, can't change anything. Do a system restore and everything works. Is this only me that has seen this? Why did the mixer change. |

Don't let Microsoft update your sound and video drivers. Get the latest drivers from the manufacturer instead. |

I have had nothing but trouble with my Xtreme card in Vista 32.
I have downloaded creative's drivers for the card and all I get is static. It doesn't matter what I try static is all I get. After installing the software I look in device manager and all it has installed is the WDM driver and nothing else. On my other drive I'm running XP Pro 64 bit without a problem in the world so you can imagine my frustration. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated "Pipboy" wrote: > On Tue, 1 May 2007 01:55:37 +0100, Uncle Nobby wrote: > > > Well, I have my audio set up and working in 5.1 sound via the X-Fi mixer. > > > > I see that windows has a update form my card, so I update. > > Restart machine and, the mixer is there but different, not as many options, > > go to select speakers in the dropdown list, nothing, blank. > > Only get sound out of 2 speakers, can't change anything. > > > > Do a system restore and everything works. > > > > Is this only me that has seen this? > > Why did the mixer change. > > Don't let Microsoft update your sound and video drivers.
