Default defrag pagefile

Can Vista's built-in defragger actually defrag the page file?

NO! You can not defrag a file that is open and in use.

That is why the 3rd party defragmenting programs have a boot time defragged.

Hi,

As mentioned in another group where you posted this same question, no, it
cannot. You would need to use a third party tool. To avoid fragmentation at
all, monitor the size of the pagefile in use, then set the minimum size at
startup to an amount equal to what you are seeing. By reducing the need for
expansion, you also reduce the amount of fragmentation.

you can set manually the amount using minimum as 1.5 times ram memory
available and maximum to 3 times
and to defrag pagefile must be done offline before Vista starts, using
programs like Perfect Disk from Raxco, there are a lot of them
s 30 days trial ver 8.08 build58 is available at their website

Antonio
