Default windows vista error 0x80070002 application failed to initialize

Hi all. Ive had this problem for quite some time and have tried to
speak with microsoft support to no avail. Originally while running XP
Home I downloaded and installed windows defender beta 2 from microsoft
but forgot to uninstall it prior to upgrading to Vista Premium.
After the vista install I realized my defender wasn't working and
found that I had the old(beta 2) version running and not the vista
version. When speaking with microsoft support they told me to
uninstall the beta version and the vista version should enable
itself. However when I uninstalled the beta version no version of
defender would work and gives me the error 0x80070002 application
failed to initiate. The version number I think is correct but I cant
get it to work. I think when I uninstalled the beta version somehow
it took some common files with it that vista needed to run defender.
When I asked microsoft support they told me its not possible to
uninstall vista defender files and that that couldn't have happened.
I've tried everything that I can think of to fix it as well as what
support suggested, NOPE NOT HAPPENENING!!!!!!!!!ARGH!

Please Help Me I'm drowning in a Vista paradox
