Default Sound Utility

Heres something I found which may be quite useful,

Quote:
Windows Vista has one glaring Omission: the bit of directx that gives hardware support to EAX. That means that older games that use DirectSound3D will sound alot worse, because they cant use the soundcard to boost in game audio. The people at Creative have fixed this with Alchemy, (preview.creativelabs.com/alchemy/default.aspx) which maps all the old DirectSound requests onto the new OpenAl (used by newer games). Its only supposed to work on Creatives X-fi line, but apparantly it can talk to other cards to.

Sorry if this has already been posted
