I have the same problem on a brand new dell desktop. I got instructions on
removing it, which I do not understand. They tell me to close windows mail and move the contents to the message store directory to another directory ant this will start it up fresh. The problem is I do not understand what that requires. If you understand the instructions, please help "Noreen" wrote: > I am trying to delete mail from my delete folder especially mail I did not > open. > I try to delete an the window pane shows that the email couldn't open > becasue I might have low memory. I strongly suggest that you download another email program
and use it until such time as Microsoft comes out with a fix for Windows Mail. You can download the Thunderbird email program here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/ Gary VanderMolen "phorvitz@comcast.net" <phorvitz@comcast.net@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:46EF75BA-8844-49CC-ABAB-01B6B6FBBF14@microsoft.com... >I have the same problem on a brand new dell desktop. First try compacting and repairing the database with my WMUtil program
(www.oehlep.com/WMUtil/). If that doesn't work then, go to Tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store Folder to find the message store location. Then move everything under that Windows Mail directory to another directory. Then restart WinMail and it will open fresh with nothing in the database. You can then add your accounts and if they work correctly then you can use File | Import | Messages and choose WinMail format and point to the directory to which you moved the files. steve "phorvitz@comcast.net" <phorvitz@comcast.net@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:46EF75BA-8844-49CC-ABAB-01B6B6FBBF14@microsoft.com... >I have the same problem on a brand new dell desktop. Windows Mail is FULL of bugs. it is absurd they would release something with
so many bugs. I have about 300 messages in my deleted folders and when I tell it to empty the trash (permanetly delete items) it will NOT delete the messages no matter what i do I cnanot empty the trash folder. What happens when IE or windows mail is corrupt and needs t either be repaired or re-installed??? Where on earth can I simply re-install the program? In "Windows ME" you could easily do this but some some incredibly idiotic reason they decided to not have this available for xp or vista. |
