Default Paste formatting in Windows Mail?

Is there a way to alter the way the paste formatting works in Windows
Mail? I often need to paste text into my email, but it either takes
the source formatting, or defaults to Times New Roman (yuk!).

I've set my Compose font to Verdana, is there some setting I've
missed?

You can paste into Notepad and then copy and paste from there.

Well, yes. But as a PITA goes, this is a monster!

I bugged this during the WinMail beta, as well as in OE betas before it,
but MS doesn't want to fix it.
One clumsy workaround: after pasting, click Format, Rich Text, Format,
Plain Text.

The OE MVPs have bugged it for 7 years or more.
