I have a new computer with Windows Mail installed (no other mail client) and
I need to import my pst file from my old Outlook. When I try and import the file using File/Import/Messages/Microsoft Outlook, I get the following error: "Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client. An error has occurred." I've searched and have not seen a solution. Does anyone know of a workaround? |

1) Outlook must be installed. No Outlook, no work.
2) Some have reported version older than Outlook 2003 to have some problems with Vista (not just Windows Mail). 3) If you can find a version of Outlook 2003 or above demo, you can install it, use the .pst file you have and then import that into Windows Mail. Another alternative is to import the Outlook messages into Outlook Express on an XP, 2000, 98, Me machine, then copy the DBX files (ALL of them) to the Vista machine and import those into WIndows Mail. Since Outlook Express won't run on Windows Vista, how is this information
going to help? How can you set OE to be the default MAPI client when it won't even install? No, that error comes from an attempt to import Outlook mail from an Outlook .PST file when Outlook is NOT installed to provide access to the file. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files. It's website is http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ Hope this is useful. Alan |
