Has anyone figured how to drag and drop messages between newsgroups in mail.
I have a new machine that had vista home premium installed already. I am not able to drag and drop messages from one newsgroup to another. I can drag a message from the inbox but not from another newsgroup. Valerie |

You can't move or copy messages from one NG to another. That makes no
sense. What you can do is copy to local folders. steve "Valerie" <Valerie @discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A08DADA4-07DE-44D0-AACF-88233F3AA8B8@microsoft.com... > Has anyone figured how to drag and drop messages between newsgroups in > mail. > I have a new machine that had vista home premium installed already. I am able to copy between newsgroup folders in the old Outlook. I think this
is the same question someone else had but I don't see a resolution. I teach online and I have multiple newsgroups with folders for each student. I used to be able to copy between the folders for each newgroup. Now I don't get the + sign when I try to drag a message. I can drag a message from the inbox but not from the newsgroup folders. Does this make sense? "Steve Cochran" wrote: > You can't move or copy messages from one NG to another. That makes no > sense. You can copy (or drag) from a newsgroup folder to an email folder
(like Inbox) or to a custom folder, but you can't move anything *into* a newsgroup folder. That makes sense since a newsgroup folder is supposed to represent only messages that were actually posted to that newsgroup. As Gary says, you can only copy to local folders.

This is definitely something that worked in Outlook. I did it all the time.
When you dragged a message to another newsgroup folder a window opened up with the message in it and you put a subject in it and then posted it. I can still drag a message from my inbox to the newsgroup folders. So what's the difference. I've only use OE and haven't used Outlook that much, so I don't know about
Outlook. I thought only OE did newsgroups. steve "Valerie" <Valerie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:65AC8AFB-5576-43E6-AEAD-0B22E750B199@microsoft.com... > This is definitely something that worked in Outlook. Sorry I am referring to OE. This is definitely something that works in OE.
Right now I'm having to revert to my old machine with OE to drag and drop messages into my folders in the same newsgroup as well as in different newgroups. This is something I do every day. When I have a message that I want to post to all of my students folders. I create one. Then drag then drag and drop it into all of the other folders. Like I said I can do this in the same newgroup as well as different newsgroup folders. So I don't know why your saying that you can copy messages between newsgroups. I've just done about 50 of them this morning in OE. "Steve Cochran" wrote: > I've only use OE and haven't used Outlook that much, so I don't know about > Outlook. Okay. Then they changed it between OE and WinMail. That's not something I
ever did, so I didn't know it could be done in OE. The solution unfortunately is to drag the messages from the NGs to local folders and that will let you merge the NGs that way. steve "Valerie" <Valerie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:126A9DAC-9325-4BA5-A138-36B7165BE052@microsoft.com... > Sorry I am referring to OE.
