"Send" menu in Office 2007

There should be a menu of options when I select "Send" while an office file
is open. The only option is there by default and it is to send the file to
be faxed. I want to send the file as an attachment. The help instructions
say to select send then select E-mail, but the E-mail option (or any other
option) is not there.
