Hi,
I've just started getting this error when I boot up my XP Pro SP2 machine: -------------------- Event ID 7032 The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the service) after the unexpected termination of the Windows Management Instrumentation service, but this action failed with the following error: An instance of the service is already running. -------------------- I also get this event from the Visual Studio Debugger: -------------------- Event ID 4096 An unhandled win32 exception occurred in svchost.exe [1240]. Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following error: Debugger could not be started because no user is logged on. -------------------- After all this, if I check out services.msc, there's a heap of services that are supposed to start automatically that haven't started (e.g. Computer Browser, Server). I did a bit of reading and thought that I might have had a corrupted WMI database. I tried running these commands to rebuild the database: winmgmt /clearadap winmgmt /kill winmgmt /unregserver winmgmt /regserver winmgmt /resyncperf ....this hasn't fixed my problem however. If anyone could offer some info on this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Thx, EightBall. |

I am getting the same error messages. It appears to have been due to a
windows update as I removed all updates from the past 30 days that I could find and the error went away. Now how to fix it without removing all the updates, I apologize I dont know, but I am applying each update one at a time to figure out the problem update. -- MCP Honolulu, Hawaii "EightBall" wrote: > Hi, > > I've just started getting this error when I boot up my XP Pro SP2 machine: > > -------------------- > > Event ID 7032 > > The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the > service) after the unexpected termination of the Windows Management > Instrumentation service, but this action failed with the following error: > An instance of the service is already running. > > -------------------- > > I also get this event from the Visual Studio Debugger: > > -------------------- > > Event ID 4096 > > An unhandled win32 exception occurred in svchost.exe [1240]. Jon,
Were you able to figure out which update was causing the problem? "Jon Harvey" wrote: > I am getting the same error messages. I am having the same problem on one of our PCs. I don't understand what you
did to fix this? I looked on the website and could not find anything. Could you please let me know how you resolved this issue? Thanks.
