Default windows mail causes system lockup

I attempted to attach jpeg files from a dvd of wedding pictures (287 pictures
to be exact) to a mail message and when I sent it, it bogged the system done
to a crawl. Nothing would work, and it wouldn't allow me to stop it, or shut
down the mail program. Using Start / shut down, it takes about 25 minutes to
shut down.

Everytime I re-entered Windows mail, it immediately locked on the
uncompleted outgoing mail and here we go again. Somehow, I managed to delete
it on my 10th attempt and now it resides in the deleted group. Now I am
trying to delete it out of there and we are going through the same thing
again. When I hi-lite the file to delete it, the computer locks up.

HELP.

Terry

287 pictures attached and trying to send? Hmmmmm...the email must have been about 2kb in size with all those pictures in *.bmp format I presume <vbs>

Try shift+delete first and then post back with result.

With Windows Mail closed ... open Windows Explorer
Navigate to the following location:

\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\Deleted
Items

Highlight the desired message and delete

Next time place the images in a temp folder, then zip them and send
the zipped file attached ...

That's not a good idea. You delete the file and don't delete the entry in
the database that way. That results in a mismatch and adds more trouble to
the system for the user.

Go to View | Layout and disable the Preview pane. Then highlight the
message in the deleted items folder and hit delete. See if that works.

after you get the system fixed, it might be a good idea to post the pictures to a web site and then send the link to the pictures.
doubt if anyone will appreciate being mailed 287 pictures.
