Default startup

This is a Gateway GT5426E with vista installed by retailer. I have the
windows locking up. Once powered off the system will not open windows
desktop unless attempting a restart from the safe mode. Sometimes I get a
blue screen that directs me to uninstall programs previously installed from
safe mode before restarting, or it will go into recovery and take the
computer back to a setting where it was once working properly. How do I
eliminate the need to start up the system three to four times before I am
able to access my desktop?

If this is a new computer and it's having there problems go back to the
vendor and complain. Have them fix it.
