I have not been able to install the software for my EPSON RX500 printer and
sent them an email. Here is their answer:
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.

At this point we do not have any Windows Vista drivers available. We will
likely not be posting any drivers for Vista until after the official release
of the operating system.

If you require further assistance with this particular issue, please ensure
all of our previous correspondence is contained in your reply, so we can
better track the history of this issue.

If you have a different issue, please submit another E-form via our website
(http://www.epson.com), and we will respond in a timely manner. Thank you
again for contacting Epson.

Sorry):

My Epson Stylus Photo R220 works excellently. Even the Software
included with the printer installed without compaint (including the
driver, which does work on Vista).

Similar problem with my RX500. Would print with XP drivers but tried to install scanner stuff and vista 32 bit, threw a real wobbly. The scanner then showed up in device manager. 'Update Driver' and we have a working scanner BUT not the epson interface....

what was recommended to me and works completely.
was to unpack the files to a folder.
open device manager, select the printer and do an update driver then browse to the folder you unpacked the files. reboot when done.

Hi,

If any one is having trouble with the RX500 drivers then install them
using the XP SP2 compatibility settings - you need to run up the
Wizard, which can be found by searching Vista Help the run the Epson
setup utility using that - works perfectly for me with one exception,
the tool taht monitors ink levels. All teh scanner stuff, printing etc
work fine.

Hope that helps until Epson pull their finger out.

Sounds reasonable, at first read. HOWEVER, you do not mention a METHOD Of "unpacking the files to a folder". Considering that the downloadable drivers are packaged in self-executing zip files, HOW do you "unpack them to a folder"?

when I click on the downloaded exe file, it gives the option to run with zip,

one of the other check boxes is to not run..

checking that box and allowing the unpack puts them into the specified folder.
