Fresh Vista Enterprise install. I am a Student Adminstrator with Admin rights
to a college specific OU. I have disabled IPv6 and set the Netbios to TCP/IP but I still get the aforementioned error when attemtping to join the domain. It's been a long day, and this is a dificult subject to blindly search. Any ideas? Advice? I'm new to Active Directory, but I am capable and competent. |

That's usually a DNS problem. The computer you are trying to join to the
domain must be set to use a domain DNS server and no other DNS servers. -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca "bv" <bv@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FD2DF578-3BC5-40D0-B794-037939B7E905@microsoft.com... > Fresh Vista Enterprise install. Wild goose chase.
The problem was due to some incompatibilities with older hardware in Vista's new network stack. Using an administrative command prompt: netsh in tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable This solved the problem for me, unless you can give a reason for not issuing that command. That command is necessary with some old networking hardware.
