can someone tell me how to block other users of my pc from accessing files
inside my account? I have tested to see if someone can see my files and the computer says that Windows needs permission to access my files, I figured after this my password would need to be entered but all you have to do is click okay and anyone has access to all my files. can some please tell me how to change this? Vista Home premium is my OS |

If you password-protect the administrative account that shows in the UAC
prompt, just clicking OK won't be enough. Only people who know that password will be able to get past that UAC prompt to where they can get to your files. That's what I thought would happen until I saw someone playing music from
some of my files. I went back and tried to get into another admin. account on my pc and the prompt for permission comes up it says I don't have permission to access that users files. It then says the computer needs permission I press okay and then I'm in. After that there are no more prompts i can access those files whenever I want. I've blocked file-sharing and enabled password protection yet people I don't want snooping in my files are free to roam. Are all of the other users also Administrators? If so, then they have
complete access by using their own Administrator token. You might want to consider encrypting your personal files. Right-click on the folders that you want to encrypt, select Properties, Advanced. There is a checkbox to encrypt. Before encrypting anything, search the Help and Support for encryption. There are some useful articles there with explanations and procedures. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included.
